La Piedra de Madera

Compañia de Circo “eia”

Through circus balance, trust, and humor, the artists invites the audience to be part of the performance. If we all share the weight, can even stones become light?

In La Piedra de Madera (the wooden stone in Spanish) stones are carried and balanced in a shared circus-experience, where children, youth, adults, and elderly meet and collaborate. Through play, humor, and balance, the audience is brought together to create the performance together with the artists. Maybe we can make stones dance? And if everyone joins in, perhaps even stones can become easy to carry.

Compañia de Circo “eia” aims to create meeting spaces across generations, cultures, and genders using circus as a medium. Francesca Lissia and Celso Pereira graduated from Stockholm University of the Arts’ circus program in 2008, specializing in partner acrobatics, and a few years later founded the company together with acrobats Armando Rabanera and Fabrizio Giannini. Now based in Catalonia, they have been touring internationally for 14 years, receiving numerous awards for their “circo humano” where they focus the spotlight on human relationships.
